Africa University opened in March 1992 and located 17 km outside Mutare, Zimbabwe's third largest city. It is a Pan-African and United Methodist-Related institution. Africa University is a private institution related to the United Methodist Church worldwide, and funded by church members from all over the world. The pioneer group of 40 students came from a dozen Africa countries to pursue bachelor's degrees in agriculture and natural resources and theology.The University welcomes persons regardless of their race, ethnicity, religion, politics, gender, nationality or social background.Africa University currently offers Bachelors and Masters degree programmes in six Faculties - Agriculture and Natural Resources, Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Management and Administration and Theology. The Institute of Peace, Leadership and Governance offers postgraduate Diploma and Masters programs.
